Section overview

The Institute for Information Freedom Development (IIFD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that conducts research on the theoretical and practical aspects ensuring the rights of citizens and organizations to access information. Thus, its activities are aimed at investigating, identifying, and solving problems of access to socially significant information in Russia. Since 2004, the Institute has been employing a dual approach of monitoring governmental agency websites for content, and litigating on behalf of citizens against government agencies to ensure access to information guaranteed under the law. Detailed reports about the Institute’s activities can be found within the website subsection “What We Do” in the section “About Us”.
